Dr. Paul E Rosenfeld
Dr. Paul Rosenfeld is the Founder and Principal Scientist at RoseyFields LLC, an environmental consulting firm based in Santa Monica, California. With over 25 years of experience, he specializes in air dispersion modeling, human health risk assessment, historical dose reconstruction, and environmental fate and transport evaluations.
Dr. Rosenfeld holds a B.A. in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Barbara, an M.S. in Environmental Science from UC Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Soil Chemistry from the University of Washington. He previously spent a decade teaching and working at UCLA’s Environmental Science & Engineering Program and the School of Public Health.
He began his career as a Remedial Project Manager for the U.S. Navy’s BRAC program at Treasure Island, overseeing investigations and cleanups of asbestos, petroleum hydrocarbons, and other contaminants. He later applied this field experience to projects nationwide, conducting complex exposure assessments and source modeling for both regulatory agencies and litigation support.
Dr. Rosenfeld has authored multiple books and peer-reviewed publications on industrial pollution, odorous emissions, and chemical risk, including The Risks of Hazardous Waste and the Handbook of Pollution Prevention and Cleaner Production series. He has led studies for the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Department of Defense, and plaintiffs in high-stakes toxic tort cases.
He is HAZWOPER-certified and trained in industrial hygiene protocols, including PPE usage, exclusion zone implementation, and hazardous air sampling. His exposure assessments incorporate EPA, OSHA, and NIOSH methodologies.
Dr. Rosenfeld has prepared risk evaluations and expert testimony involving a wide range of contaminants, including:
Asbestos
Diesel particulate matter
Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
Chlorinated solvents (e.g., TCE, PCE, vinyl chloride)
Perfluorinated compounds (e.g., PFOA, PFOS, GenX, AFFF)
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs)
PAHs, dioxins, furans
Heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, chromium VI)
